Process- Orientated Online Group Therapy

My name is Chris Neill and I am a British Psychologist and Psychotherapist based in Madrid, Spain.

I am presently recruiting for a process-based online therapy group that will start around the beginning of October. The group will meet online for 90 minutes once a week online and consist of 8-12 members and will be a closed group requiring a continual commitment to participate at least between October and December.

What is a process-based group therapy? Within the group you will explore how your relationships can contribute to present problems. Although all roads may lead to Rome, the focus of the group will be on the present and not the past. Any therapy group should be supportive, but the emphasis will be more on interpersonal processes that arise through members interactions and less on solutions, advice or techniques. These interpersonal processes allow group members to find connections with themselves and within the group providing a deeper understanding and a platform for self-awareness, self-healing and better social awareness.

Who can sign up for the group? The idea is for a diverse mix of individuals that will provide differing perspectives and ideas based on each member’s individual experience. This non-directive type of group therapy is better suited to individuals who are willing and able to examine long held beliefs about themselves, the world and their place in it along with an ability to listen to and consider the thoughts of other group members.

This is not the best type of therapy for people who are suffering from active addiction, have severe mental health issues or facing an immediate psychological crisis. Special problem-focused groups may be more appropriate. But I will be happy to discuss this at an interview.

If you were to join the group, there will be a one-off signing up fee of 50 euros and each session has a fee of 25 euros that will be paid in advance between the 1st and the 5th of the coming month.

If you are interested in participating, please get in touch with me by email giving a brief description of why you would like to join, and I will contact you to schedule an initial interview and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
