Hello! I’m Dr. Samantha Torres an English speaking highly skilled and trained mental health professional with nearly thirty years’ experience in clinical, academic and research areas.
I am a qualified mental health nurse (RMHN) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Psychotherapist. I also have a PhD in Health Studies. My thesis is titled: Making sense of it all: an interpretative phenomenological analysis of bereaved survivors’ coping experiences following intimate partner suicide. All my qualifications have been awarded in the United Kingdom (UK). My vast work experience includes working in the UK and Singapore and more recently from the Costa del Sol in Southern Spain working with clients in person and online serving clients across the world providing psychotherapy.
As a certified and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, I help people manage their problems by changing unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours. CBT works for different people with common problems such as anxiety disorders and depression but is also proven to be beneficial for other mental health problems such as trauma, complicated grief and physical health problems so clients can learn how to cope with their symptoms better.
My philosophy is underpinned by professional standards to ensure effective, ethical and evidenced-based therapy. All clients are treated equally regardless of diversity and can expect individualised, non-discriminative and culturally sensitive therapy. To ensure my practice continues to be of the highest standards, I meet the professional requirements stipulated by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies and Nursing & Midwifery Council. This includes the commitment to continuous professional development and attending regular clinical supervision.
